Battle PT 2380 is proud to have partnered with Wandering Warriors Inc. to raise funds and awareness for the care and support for our wounded diggers and their families.
To demonstrate this, on the 13th of September 2014, the “Sharing the Load” Stretcher Challenge will take place in Gunnedah, NSW, involving teams travelling together 42.2 km carrying a 50 kg stretcher.
There are no stops on the way.
This challenge is expected to take between 8-10 hours.
Wandering Warriors is a not for profit charity organisation with mission to secure ongoing funding for the care and support of our veterans and their families.
The focus is on the younger generation of veterans from Australia’s more recent military commitments and theatres of war.
The event will also involve a cocktail dinner. Tickets will be available from June 2014.
To date, our event shirt has raised $15,000 to the cause.
There is still opportunity to get your company/organisation logo on the stretcher.
Each logo costs $500.00 and will be carried the full length of the challenge as well as displayed at the dinner and in media coverage.
If you would like to contribute or would like more information, please contact Battle PT 2380.
Some words from a participant:
Why am I doing the ‘sharing the load’ challenge?
It is my privilege to offer my support for the Wandering Warriors in this magnificent fundraising event, as we strive to raise awareness and significant funds for those who have given so much for us under the Defence of our nation.
Through this challenge, I wish to show my concern for the returning soldiers who have experienced the unthinkable consequences of war and the devastating effect it can have on their families, including the families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
It is believed that challenges serve to strengthen the human spirit and this event will certainly prove both a physical and mental challenge for myself. In doing this challenge, I hope to inspire and encourage others to get involved rather than just standing on the sidelines.
