Jobs for Heroes is a community-led project funded by Government (under the skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative) to train military and ex-military personnel and their family members and help them obtain work. The training medium is Certificate III in Business conducted one day a week over three months. It is absolutely free of all cost to all participants.
People currently on the program include veterans, currently-serving personnel, partners, spouses, sons and daughters. Most are spouses, partners and children of veterans, and the only pre-requisite is that they want a job, or a different job, or more hours. Our current students have had past employment as nurses, teachers, defence force, pilots, receptionists, office workers, hospitality and retail staff. It doesn’t matter what education or training they have received in the past, this program is available to all who need assistance.
This program exists because our parent organisation is a military charity interested in the welfare, comfort and security of our defence personnel and their families. The volunteers, instructors and other personnel involved in Jobs for Heroes are highly committed to employment outcomes above all else. This is our way of contributing to those who need it the most.
Where and when
The next course will be conducted part-time at Ashgrove from 10 September 2019 to 17 December 2019. Attendance will generally be three days each fortnight.
Course delivery is flexible to meet the individual needs of participants. We know life can be complicated, so days are set aside to make up for classes missed or to revise issues until you nail them.
